Notes: Original image is 4.5 MB; published by Thompson & West. Similar image also in W.F. Edwards 1883 W. F. Edwards' Tourists' guide and directory of the Truckee Basin, p. 103. Original Truckee Hotel. John F. Moody, Proprietor, Truckee, Nevada County, California. Facing south. See also Searls Image Collection. See PIC 4-TRU 12 link. Note in 1880 Thompson & West book: "The town of Truckee was having its problems in 18763 with lawlessness. The citizens also felt neglected because of their isolation from the county seat in Nevada City. A movement was started to secede from Nevada County and join Placer. However, Placer County did want them. The possibility of forming a County of Donner was explored." Also see NCHS Bulletin 27-1 (?).
