Notes: Original image is 5.6 MB. Bustling with railroad activity as the rails opened the Sierras. Truckee became the gateway to and from California. Discrepancy of dates, 1869, or 1877. Nevada County Historical Society, Vol. 30, no. 3, p. 1, July 1976 posted photo on the front cover of their newsletter. Article by Pat Jones. May also be an Alfred Hart photo.
Buildings are newer than in TRR0070, 1st roundhouse is in the background. Building on the right may be the shop of E.A. Seeler (?). Has raised platform on the right, the spur is level with the mainline. It is also dated 1869. CM 1/14/2022.
Also in Mayer & Vose 1975 book, Makin' Tracks, p. 60, attributed to Alfred A. Hart.
TRR0071 more probably 1872-3 when Roundhouse no. 2 was being built back there but not finished. It almost looks like you can see the long side of the roundhouse - where they could park 3-4 engines in one stall - is finished.
They have the loading dock dirt ramp built and a brand new white building there. GZ 1/14/2022
