Notes: Folded large print, left and right; Frank Titus Panorama, early 1900s, maybe 1907. View is from where I-80 now runs, looking southeast toward Carson Range. Note that in the far RIGHT corner middle of the photo is the view of the BACK of the "McGlashan Mansion" and the then enclosed Rocking Stone Tower. (Today, the Truckee Veterans Memorial Building stands where the Mansion once stood, and the Rocking Stone Tower is no longer enclosed, but open, revealing the "rocking stone".) Notice too the TWO church steeples, Assumption Catholic and the Methodist Church. Notice also the Railroad Roundhouse (with the smokestacks) adjacent to the Church. Note the Whitney Hotel (where the Truckee Hotel/Moody's presently stands as of December 2019). Note the flume crossing the Truckee River and towards Martis Valley in the distance. Note too how denuded the Truckee area to the east appears - devoid of serious tree canopy. The Methodist Church officially became the Church of the Mountains (COM) in 1958.
